The Continuum

Light from the Sun, reflected by the Moon, is a continuous spectrum of colors. This is a good metaphor for many aspects of life. People like to think of a spectrum, for example, the autism spectrum. It’s good to think in terms of a spectrum, where all colors are immediately connected to each other, blending from one color to the next. More generally, distribution functions, for example the Gaussian distribution or Normal distribution. We are not all the same and should not hope to be. We need to accept all and appreciate all. We should look on humanity as we look on rainbows, amazing, surprising, beautiful displays of nature.

The Tower

O may the moon and sunlight seem One inextricable beam,

For if I triumph I must make men mad.

–W.B. Yeats
