This is the article that I wanted to write. Jeff Cohen, in “The Elephant in the Room: Militarism”, nicely summarizes the ridiculous scale of military spending in the US. The War on Terror, like the War on Drugs, is misplaced action based on fear generated by a handful of politicians with a personal agenda.
It’s disappointing to see that the military planners have responded to the Sequestration by cutting publicly visible programs, such as the air demonstration teams, as if that were an objective cut to all the fat in defense spending. Predicable.
