Congress Kills

Posted on 2009-08-14 by inextricableone

Sure, that’s a sensational title. About the same as the sign carried by a child saying that “Obama Lies, People Die” (or something like that; maybe it was about grandma).

There have been publications that around 20,000 people a year die in America because of the lack of health care. Then, Congress can take the month of August off? Murtha says that it will be in January? 3,000 die in the World Trade Center bombing. 5,000 in war? 20,000 as a result of being without health care. 40,000+ from car accidents?

What is a life worth? Why do Americans make such distinctions about when it is okay for their fellow humans to die? A credo of the American: you can die by choosing risk, but you can’t die by a direct choice (that would be euthanasia).

Many people live lives of suffering. But, I can tell you that life is a wonderful and precious experience of existence. Our world is incredible. It is simply incredible that each of us exists in our individual consciousness. This life is to be treasured and protected. For this reason, each person who comes into being must be given the fair and equal chance to enjoy a full life.

This SHOULD be our creed. This should guide the choices of those with little, of those with a happy life and those who have power over others.

Doing otherwise is denying the joy of life to others, and in some cases, prematurely ending lives, preventable deaths.

O may the moon and sunlight seem One inextricable beam,

For if I triumph I must make men mad.
