Some Tampa Teadampeners were quoted as saying that the government should provide for the common defense, interstate highways…
First off, since when is our defense budget for the common defense? It’s just another business for the United Corporations of America, with a wonderful propaganda campaign and a powerful advantage through the government leverage of their sales. It’s obscenely bloated and an embarrassment. Anyone genuinely interested in cutting government spending should start with the Defense department. It’s clear that there is a lot of fat there to cut. Calling for reduced government and then blindly supporting any and all defense projects is just plain stupid. If you really support anything, then I have a proposal for a $10B missile system to protect our tea bags.
“Interstate highways”? Way to think beyond the 20th century! If you think that private enterprise can’t build a standardized system across state lines, then you should think that we shouldn’t have one. Admitting that we need a rational, cooperative, non-commercial, nation-wide system to provide something so bland and simple should allow just about any current project in under the national government umbrella.
