Finally, the TSA is allowing pocket knives carried onto airliners. I think this is great news. I always carry a pocket knife. I use it to open bags, cut string, trim my nails and other small tasks.
It’s interesting that many are objecting to this. The news coverage has mostly been about objections to the argument the TSA uses to justify the change, that it will make processing through security checkpoints more efficient. I agree that that argument seems a bit bogus, but countering the argument is equally suspect. Do the flight attendants object to the risk of being attacked with a pocket knife?
Here in Colorado, the state legislature is spending a great deal of time on gun bans. The effort to ban them on college campuses is getting a lot of attention. We have people strongly supporting arming students on campus.
Yet people strongly object to letting people have small pocket knives on planes?
